Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a lasting impact in the lives of students in the Chattanooga area as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This full-time contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 academic year, with a start date in early August and extending through late May. Working approximately 35 hours per week, you’ll collaborate with a supportive team and provide essential instruction and services to students across multiple schools, with caseload and age group assignments to be finalized soon.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active DOE (Department of Education) certification required
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing preferred
- Familiarity with evidence-based teaching strategies for DHH students
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills
- Comfortable adapting to varied school environments and student needs
- Ability to meet time-sensitive credentialing requirements, including completion of fingerprints
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to DHH students, supporting a range of communication and learning needs
- Collaborate with general education staff, parents, and other support professionals to ensure student success
- Create and adapt lesson plans based on IEPs and best practices for DHH education
- Monitor student progress, maintain records, and participate in IEP meetings as needed
- Serve across multiple campuses, with assignments varying as determined by district needs
