REGISTERED NURSE/LPN(PT)

Part-Time RN or LPN for Long-Term Care

We are seeking a part-time RN or LPN to join our Long-Term Care team. This position includes one 12-hour day shift (5:30 AM - 6:00 PM) and one 12-hour night shift (6:00 PM - 5:30 AM) per week, totaling 48 hours per pay period. The schedule includes every third weekend on days or nights.

Shift Differentials:

• Night Shift: $2.50/hour
• Weekend Shift: $2.50/hour

Part-time benefits include: IPERS, Health, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance, Long Term Disability. PTO and sick time accrual begin on the first day of Employment.

Provides direct nursing care for individual residents with common, well-defined nursing diagnosis. Works under the supervision of an R.N. Organizes those aspects of nursing care for which she/he is responsible for.

Reports to: Director of Nursing-LTC

Supervises: Assigns tasks and directs activities of nursing assistants working in LTC unit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Gathers data relative to health status of the resident reports to physician and documents appropriately.
• Renders direct patient care consistent with the level of nursing skills.
• Uses established channels of communication to implement an effective, health care plan.
• Organizes the delivery of standard nursing care in order to use time and resources effectively and efficiently.
• Works with other health care personnel within the organizational structure to manage patient care.
• Participates in the medical plan of care to promote an integrated health care plan.
• Evaluates patient responses to nursing interventions and documents appropriately.
• Maintains accountability for own care and care delegated to others to assure adherence to ethical and legal standards.
• Plans, promotes and participates in patient education and rehabilitation.
• Provides general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medication and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
• Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, quality improvement nursing committees and other related activities.
• Keeps supervisor informed of changes in patient condition and of care rendered.
• Demonstrates willingness to support staffing and scheduling needs.
• Complies with hospital and nursing service policies.
• Performs functions other than described above due to extenuating circumstances.

Personal Specifications:

Experience: Nursing Home experience preferred. Following a formal orientation, proficiency in the assigned clinical area is expected within 3 months.

Education: A graduate of an approved RN or LPN program. Must have current license to practice in State of Iowa. Successful completion of BCLS within 3 months of employment

Mental Demands: Requires constant mental alertness and ability to evaluate and detect changes in patients condition. Subject to frequent interruptions in performing work.

Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 75 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. Must have the physical capabilities of initiating CPR.

Working Conditions: Will work in a clean, well-lighted, air-conditioned nursing unit. Risks exposure to communicable or infectious disease and injury from performance of assigned duties. Is subject to multiple sensory and environmental stressors.
