Associate Director, Laboratory Automation Systems

Role Associate Director, Laboratory Automation Systems leading the lab automation platform organization at Johnson & Johnson's Innovative Medicine division. Objectives include ensuring the deployment, adoption, and sustainment of integrated automation systems supporting scientific workflows across discovery and analytical phases. Responsibilities Leading automation scientists and matrix teams, managing portfolio governance, establishing operating models, overseeing system design, implementation, and lifecycle, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors, developing standards, KPIs, and continuous improvement practices, supporting technology evaluations and compliance documentation. Qualifications Bachelor's in Life Science, Engineering, or related field 10+ years in laboratory or scientific automation, with proven leadership in integrated automation systems, workflow management, and vendor oversight Preferred Skills Experience with multi-workcell orchestration, AI-ready data strategies, and digital twins. High-value specifics involve discovery and analytical workflows, automation system lifecycle management, and cross-functional collaboration within R&D environments.
