Norfolk Collegiate is seeking passionate, reliable Substitute Teachers for the current academic year. Substitute Teachers provide instructional coverage across our Lower, Middle, and Upper School divisions, ensuring continuity of learning, maintaining a safe classroom environment, and supporting the school's mission in the absence of primary faculty.

Compensation & Employment Details:

• Pay Rate:

  • $15.00 per hour for candidates holding a Bachelor's degree (any field)

  • $20.00 per hour for candidates holding a Bachelor's degree in Education

• Position Type: Temporary / On-Call, non-exempt (hourly)

• Target Student Population: Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement teacher lesson plans, deliver instructional content, and manage classroom activities across Lower, Middle, and Upper School levels as needed

• Maintain active supervision and foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment for students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles

• Proctor study halls, supervise non-classroom activities, and assist with general duties as assigned by school administration

• Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, department chairs, and administrators to ensure seamless instructional continuity

• Adapt flexibly to varying subject areas, age groups, and schedule changes throughout the school day

• Demonstrate enthusiasm for student engagement and reflect the values and community standards of Norfolk Collegiate

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; a degree in Education or a specific subject discipline is preferred

• Prior teaching experience in a lower, middle, or upper school setting highly desirable

• Demonstrated commitment to innovative, interdisciplinary, and student-centered learning approaches

• Exceptional communication, adaptability, and classroom management skills
