Launching in Las Vegas in 2026, followed by West Hollywood and New York, TENSHOU is building a platform that brings exceptional Japanese restaurants to the U.S. without compromising what makes them distinctive.

The environment is intimate, highly personalized, and detail-driven, with much of the guest experience taking place in counter-seat settings where chefs, service staff, and guests interact closely throughout the meal.

Assistant General Manager Overview

You'll serve as the GM's deputy, keeping operations running to TENSHOU standards across the unit in the GM's absence. Each unit is home to multiple restaurants within the TENSHOU Collection, and the AGM will need to understand each restaurant's unique philosophy and guest experience while maintaining consistent operational standards across all of them. This role carries GM-level ownership of daily operations, people, and guest experience, with a clear trajectory toward a General Manager seat.

What You'll Do

• Serve as GM deputy — maintain operational continuity and uphold TENSHOU standards in the GM's absence
• Oversee daily floor operations: service execution, opening/closing, facility checks, incident response, and OSHA/health/safety/sanitation compliance
• Supervise shared unit staff (reception, janitorial) and all reservation and guest communication operations
• Manage scheduling, seasonal menu updates, and guest-facing communication tools
• Prepare and present weekly performance reports for GM review and Japan partner restaurants; collaborate with Japan partners on budgeting and strategic planning
• Lead process improvement initiatives and own labor/food/beverage cost monitoring, presenting variance analysis and recommendations to the GM
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management for unit-level staff, presenting recommendations to the GM
• Own labor scheduling and lead regular managers' meetings to surface challenges and drive improvements
• Own floor-level guest escalations — resolve independently, escalating only significant exceptions — and maintain guest information and hospitality practices that build loyalty

What You'll Need

• 3+ years of management experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality supervising 10+ staff; 5+ years total industry experience preferred
• Practical experience with POS systems and restaurant operations
• Business-level English required; conversational Japanese preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, with sound judgment managing multiple operations at once
• Strong interest and/or experience in Japanese culture, cuisine, and hospitality is highly desirable. Candidates should have an appreciation for omotenashi and an interest in understanding the philosophy behind Japanese service rather than serving Japanese food in a conventional Western fine dining setting

Certifications & Requirements

• California Food Manager Certification (ServSafe or equivalent) required at hire
• RBS certification preferred; sommelier certification preferred
• Awareness of California Wage Orders (IWC Wage Order No. 5) and WeHo Municipal Code

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand and walk for extended periods (8–12+ hours)
• Able to lift or carry items up to 50 lbs
• Frequent movement and close guest interaction in a fine dining counter-seat environment; high attention to detail required
• Visual and auditory acuity to monitor a full dining room

Schedule Expectations

• Full-time, salaried; evening, weekend, and holiday availability required
• Schedule varies based on operational needs; flexibility required
• On-call availability during critical operational situations
