Senior Accountant

Behind that information is an accounting team responsible for ensuring our books are accurate, our accounts are reconciled, our close is completed on time, and our day-to-day financial activity is properly managed. We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to play a key role in leading the day-to-day accounting function across our multi-store locations and related entities, while supporting our CFO. This is a hands-on position for someone who is technically strong, highly organized, comfortable managing complex accounting responsibilities, and capable of helping lead and develop an accounting team. What You’ll Own Month-End Close & Financial Reporting: Help lead the monthly close process, prepare store-level and consolidated financial statements, record journal entries, review financial activity, and ensure reporting is accurate, complete, and timely. General Ledger & Reconciliations: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and oversee account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, intercompany accounts, inventory, credit cards, depreciation, and other balance sheet accounts. Inventory & Cost Accounting : Oversee inventory-related accounting, reconcile inventory balances to supporting systems, review adjustments and physical inventory results, investigate material variances, and support accurate cost of goods sold and gross margin reporting. Cash Management: Manage daily cash accounting activity, oversee cash reconciliations and reporting, monitor cash positions and other payment activity. and Provide leadership with accurate daily cash information. AP & AR Oversight: Support and oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including aging reviews, check runs, statement reconciliations, collections, payment processing, and escalated issues. Accounting Team Leadership: Supervise and provide day-to-day direction, review, and mentor accounting team members while ensuring deadlines, responsibilities, established priorities, and accounting standards are consistently met. Audit, Compliance & Technical Accounting: Support audits, tax and CPA requests, maintain accounting documentation, and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with appropriate accounting practices and company requirements. Accounting Support & Analysis: Maintain financial schedules and accounting files, prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis, support related entities, and help resolve accounting issues as they arise. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA, CMA, or EA preferred but not required. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial statements, and account reconciliations Experience with cash management, AP, AR, accruals, and intercompany accounting Strong Excel and accounting/ERP system skills Experience reviewing work and providing guidance to accounting team members Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines Experience in grocery, retail, food service, or another high-volume, multi-location environment preferred Ability to analyze financial results across multiple locations and investigate operational variances Why Joseph’s?
