Paraeducator Position
The Anamosa Community School District is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered paraeducator to join our Raider team. Paraeducators play an essential role in helping students succeed by providing academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and personal support under the direction of licensed staff. Responsibilities may include assisting students individually or in small groups, supporting classroom instruction, implementing student plans, supervising students, collecting data, and helping maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Essential Functions
- Participates in daily and long-range lesson, classroom, and playground planning.
- Conducts learning exercises with small groups of students.
- Guides students in studying and interacting harmoniously with others.
- Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual students.
- Provides escort and assistance to students as necessary.
- Helps maintain individual records for each student.
- Fosters appropriate social skills.
- Assists the teacher in maintaining neat work and social areas.
- Assists with the supervision of students during regular social periods.
- Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
- Provides clerical support related to educational programming, instruction and/or classroom management including, but not limited to, materials preparation, communications, and recordkeeping related to student attendance, performance, behavioral incidents, etc.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Education and Licensure
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Paraeducator certification preferred
Knowledge and Skills
- Fluency with relevant technology, including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, and email.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
