Job Summary St. Louis Catholic Academy is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Aftercare Aide to assist in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for students participating in the school's aftercare program. The Aftercare Aide supports the supervision of students, assists with activities and homework time, and helps create a positive atmosphere that reflects the mission and values of Catholic education.

Essential Responsibilities

• Supervise students enrolled in the aftercare program and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
• Assist with homework support, educational activities, and recreational opportunities.
• Facilitate age-appropriate games, crafts, and enrichment activities.
• Monitor student behavior and promote positive social interactions.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized aftercare environment.
• Assist with student check-in and dismissal procedures.
• Communicate appropriately with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student needs or concerns.
• Ensure compliance with school policies and Archdiocesan safe environment requirements.
• Provide support during snack time and ensure proper supervision.
• Help resolve minor student conflicts while promoting respect and Christian values.
• Report accidents, incidents, or concerns to the Aftercare Coordinator or school administration.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Aftercare Coordinator or Principal.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or recreational setting preferred. Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education. Ability to supervise children in a safe and positive manner. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families. CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to engage positively with children of varying ages and developmental levels. Strong organizational and classroom management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Dependability, patience, and a positive attitude. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies and unexpected situations.
