Position Summary: To be fully engaged in providing No Harm / Quality, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by: working as a team to maintain responsible attitudes, analyzing cytological specimens to provide quality results and using resources efficiently.

Primary Accountabilities:

• Complies with the department policies/processes/procedures to provide accurate results, quality products and services with 2 errors per year.
• Assures valid results as evidenced by zero patient or sample identification errors in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases of laboratory procedures.
• Understands and applies sample quality control and equipment quality control per department policy as measured by review of quality control logs with 5 errors per year.
• Complies with "I CARE" values as measured by no positive disciplinary action.
• Manages daily workload in a productive manner.

Work Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Work Experience: None.
• Licensure: As required licensure by the State of Florida and in accordance with CLIA guidelines.
• Certification: Appropriate certification by the ASCP or other similar accrediting agencies.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

• Excellent human relations skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong computer skills.
• Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
• Must be able to respond to a call in if needed within 30 - 45 minutes.

Physical Requirements:

• Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
• Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
• Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
• May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
• Workspace may vary from open to confined.
• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
