All remote or hybrid work arrangements must be performed from within the continental United States, subject to Sergeant at Arms approval. JOB OVERVIEW Job Description The Target Hiring Range for this position is:$80,000-$90,000 Transition Specialists play an essential role in supporting Senate offices through key operational moments like office openings, moves, and closings by ensuring each transition is handled with organization, efficiency, and care. This role is designed for a strategic, customer service-oriented professional who will manage transition projects within the Senate office buildings, coordinating services, equipment, and operational support so that Senate offices and staff can work effectively from their first days in the Senate until their last. Transition Specialists build strong, trusted relationships with Senate office customers and serve as stewards of the information, timelines, and coordination required to execute successful transitions. The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, coordinating across teams, and bringing structure and ease to complex processes. By anticipating needs and making office transitions feel straightforward for Senate staff, this position directly supports institutional effectiveness and helps offices stay focused on their mission. Key Accountabilities/Essential Job Duties Support departing, continuing, and newly elected Senators and their staff during the biennial transition to a new Congress. Serve as the primary point of contact with all stakeholders for the purpose of transitioning office spaces. Develop and review written materials such as reports, program overviews, and outreach material. Create and maintain reports, website content, forms, and dashboards for congressional transitions and inaugural ceremonies. Plan, implement, and facilitate training sessions, including researching and collating information on a wide variety of topics and developing and delivering presentations. Coordinate and support ad hoc projects and special events. Assist in identifying support resources and perform outreach efforts throughout the Senate. Other duties as assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Required Education High School Diploma/GED. Required Work Experience One (1) to three (3) years of experience in projectmanagement, coordination and/ or physical changemanagement, and a minimum of one (1) yearCongressional experience. Required Special Skills/ Knowledge Knowledge of, or ability to learn, departmental rules, regulations, procedures, and functions, including policies and regulations set by the Senate Rules Committee, the Senate Committee on Ethics, and the Architect of the Capitol pertaining to facilities management. Knowledge of office equipment, computers, relevant software/web applications, spreadsheets, and databases. Ability to communicate and manage complex projects with diplomacy, tact, and professional bearing. Strong writing and analytical skills and the ability to formulate written content on a variety of subjects in a range of styles. Ability to conduct research and accurately prepare and process a variety of reports and documents. Ability to obtain Change Management certification. Desired Qualifications A demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in a professional environment, preferably in the United States Senate or other government settings. Experience working in a congressional office. Progressive experience in project management or change management. Proven ability to design, implement, and improve systems and workflows that increase efficiency and service quality. A high degree of communication competency that allows for succinct and digestible information to be dispersed to a wide variety of stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and resources effectively while maintaining attention to detail. Skill in analyzing operational challenges, identifying solutions, and implementing process improvements. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels. Working Conditions Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during lapses in appropriations, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late-night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted. This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate.
