About the Position

Okay with first-time travelers. Must be a good team player. Description: Department: Telemetry This unit has 24 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. Common diagnoses include heart failure, COPD, sepsis, AFIB, pneumonia, stroke, detox, and suicidal holds. Nurses are not required to titrate drips. Common drips include Diltiazem, Heparin, Amiodarone, and Lidocaine, which are set drop rate medications. There is a charge nurse on each shift who does not take patients. An administrative supervisor is on-site 24/7. Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are present on this unit with a ratio of 1:8. If the unit is full, there will be 3 CNAs available. Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP. If a patient is on BiPAP for more than 4 hours, they will transfer to the ICU. High flow oxygen is also available. Telemetry technicians are present on this unit. Registered nurses are required to sign off on their strips. Shifts are scheduled by the unit scheduler. Shifts can be blocked or grouped together. Weekend requirements exist as needed, with an effort to schedule every other weekend. Holiday requirements depend on the need. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating may occur to medical-surgical units or potentially other locations. Scrub color must be clean and professional. Nursing staff use a team nursing model. If the unit is full, there will be a charge nurse with 7 registered nurses on the floor. 2 of those nurses may act as leads with 1-2 patients. Leads assist other nurses with medication passes and patient care. Travelers may work as leads if they have experience. This facility has a radius rule of 50 miles.
