About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chair for the Department of Surgery. This pivotal leadership role demands a physician with a strong background in clinical care, education, and research. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic oversight of the department, ensuring the highest quality of evidence-based care, and maintaining excellence in academic and scholarly activities. The Chair will work closely with the Chancellor, Executive Dean, and other academic leaders to develop and implement the department's educational curriculum, support the residency program, and foster a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration. Additionally, the role involves financial management, hospital operations, and community outreach to enhance the department's and the institution's standing. Applicants for the Chair position must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, be board-certified in surgery, and have a current medical school appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level. A minimum of 10 years of clinical practice experience, with a strong preference for those with at least 3 years of administrative experience in an academic medical center, is required. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in scholarly activities, grant funding, and a commitment to the values of the institution. Extensive knowledge of clinical operations, management, and a management philosophy that emphasizes accountability, integrity, and collaboration are essential.
