Duties

Help

• Serve as a Psychologist and provides advice and consultation to other staff and officials in the specialized areas of clinical psychology and forensic psychology.
• Function as the clinic psychological testing expert, forensic evaluator, and aeromedical psychologist.
• Provide specialized post-doctoral training to residents on Advanced Military Assessment rotation and psychological testing and assessment for doctoral interns.
• Evaluate and treat the full range of complex psychological disorders in accordance with the latest version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders.

• This position requires that applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series (Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, etc.)
• This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network within 30 days of employment.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination or must provide a recognized exemption.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist:

Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

Selective Placement Factor:

Licensure : This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience, which includes conducting psychological evaluations, developing treatment plans for a range of complex psychological disorders, and providing psychological consultation services . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
