Registered Nurse - Floating

Position Type: Registered Nurse- Floating - Full Time with benefit. School Year. Location: Districtwide Reports to: Director of Student Health Services/Assistant Superintendent of Student Services Salary: $40.14/hour General Description: The Franklin Public Schools, a Prek-12 district, is seeking a RN who will float between school buildings as needed. School nursing is a dynamic discipline embracing a variety of functions which fall under the broad categories of health assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, as well as study and research. Due to academic preparation and professional skill in these areas, the school nurse is a faculty member qualified to assume responsibility for various aspects of the school health services. The School Nurse reports to and is evaluated by the Director of Student Health Services and the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services. Overview of Responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate students' health status
• Serve as health advocate and provide primary and emergency health care to students, staff and visitors
• Provide appropriate staff with student medical information and guidance related to student health issues as needed
• Provide consultation, relevant teaching, counseling and guidance to assist students and their parents in assuming responsibility for health care
• Administer medication in accordance with school and state policies
• Conduct screening of students for vision, and hearing, including follow-up retests, appropriate referrals, and notification of parents
• Act as an advocate and consultant for children suspected of being abused or neglected
• Utilize SNAP software to document and maintain accurate health records for students
• Maintain health room statistics as required for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health
• Promote a healthful and safe on-site environment for students and staff

Qualifications Required:

• Registered Nurse licensed in Massachusetts
• DESE License preferred
• School experience preferred
• Must be the kind of person who is warm, caring, and respectful and have a strong desire to work with young children.
• Ability to collaborate with all faculty & staff.
• Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
