Senior Database Administrator

OverviewJob PurposeThe Successful candidate will be a part of the Global MSSQL DBA team with focus on performance tuning, troubleshooting, design, deployment, and production support of Microsoft SQL Servers in a fast paced and dynamic environment. This role requires a technology enthusiast with strong technical, organizational, and analytical skills. You will be responsible for ensuring that the SQL Database is performant, secure and stable. You will be expected to troubleshoot and resolve incidents and problems across the IT architecture. This role will help design and implement future database and application solution strategy, technical design, architecture, and support for carrying out the implementation of current firm strategies.ResponsibilitiesDeep knowledge of SQL Server internalsExpert skills in writing advanced T-SQL, window functions, set operators, pivoting/unpivoting, grouping sets, as well as building complex stored proceduresIn-depth knowledge on analyzing query plans, can optimize and fine tune complex queries and stored proceduresAbility to operate in the high-pressure environment and troubleshoot complex issues quickly, and successfully handle multiple prioritiesExcellent programming and problem solving skills with an aptitude to learn and apply new technology skillsWork closely with Developers and provide guidance on T-SQL codingTroubleshoot database-related application performance issues and recommend solutionsProvide production support for on-prem and cloud database environment in accordance with agreed service levels, standards, and processesCover all aspects of Availability, Scalability, Performance and Security for DatabasesWork closely with infrastructure personnel, providing technical input to application design of solutions for business and infrastructure projectsAssist in the evaluation, planning and delivery of the migration and upgrade of existing database applicationsKnowledge sharing and training to other team membersKnowledge and ExperienceB.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience10+ years of experience in administering SQL Server databases on Windows Platforms7+ years SQL Server development (2008-2019)7+ years experience with database and system internals and performance tuning7+ years SQL Server development covering SQL & T-SQL code5+ years experience in automation and scripting (Powershell, shell)3+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server Replication3+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server Always On Availability GroupProven experience in writing, tuning and analyzing queries and stored proceduresExperience with managing and troubleshooting databases in high performance, multi-user applicationsProficient in Microsoft SQL Server (2016, 2019) and ability to apply SQL Server capabilities to business challengesProven experience in database design for performance, security and scalabilityStrong working knowledge of Windows Server, VMs, Network, all aspects of infrastructure supporting MSSQL ServerExcellent technical problem-solving skills and aptitude to learn new technologies and methodologiesProfessionalism, positive outlook, respect and courtesy to customers and all associates.Strong verbal and written communication skillsDocumentation skills for processes and procedures (creating KBs, runbooks, topology, etc.)Demonstrate proficiency in managing large and complex data sets within databasesExperience with MS SQL production support is essential.
