About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse I Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: Direct Hire Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Zero to six (0-6) months related experience in a clinical setting License: Valid multi-state or state Registered Nurse License Certifications: None required Must-Have: Surgical orthopedic circulator experience Description: The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care. This is done utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies and procedures. The purpose is to monitor and evaluate patient functional status. The nurse utilizes the nursing process to care for patients. They assess, organize, and complete patient care considering patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Steps of the nursing process are documented appropriately. Proper medical terminology is utilized, addressing problems and progress toward goals. Patient discharge is facilitated through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources. These resources are suitable to patient age and cultural or psychosocial factors. Collaboration with other disciplines is undertaken as appropriate. Support for unit and hospital goals is provided through performance improvement and educational activities. This is evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. Decision-making requires independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives. Final stages of decision-making may be subject to general review. Working relationships involve coordinating activities of others without supervision. The nurse leads others in the same work performed but does not supervise staff. Input on performance evaluations is possible, but preparation or delivery is not required. Direct work with patients and/or customers is essential. Engagement with internal and external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction is frequent. Interaction with other healthcare professionals and staff occurs regularly. There will be frequent collaboration with individuals at the Director level or above. Candidates with Labor and Delivery experience are preferred. However, candidates with two or more years of hospital nursing experience in other acute care areas may be considered. Non-Labor and Delivery candidates must possess strong hospital experience and show a clear interest in transitioning into Labor and Delivery. Orientation is approximately five months for those without Labor and Delivery experience. Candidates should demonstrate a genuine passion for maternal care and a commitment to long-term growth within Labor and Delivery. Required skills include: - Knowledge of general disease state management processes, psychosocial models, and clinical pathways. - Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. - Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently. - Detail-oriented approach in reviewing clinical and numerical data. Required education includes: Completion of the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing, verified by the state board of nursing. This includes holding or being entitled to hold a diploma or degree from the program.
