VDC Electrician

Job Description:

Insight Global is seeking a VDC (Virtual Design & Construction) Technician for an employer in the Houston, TX area. This individual will support commercial construction projects by developing and managing virtual models of electrical systems using tools such as Revit and Navisworks. The role involves translating field and design knowledge into accurate digital layouts, ensuring all electrical installations are properly planned prior to construction. This is a highly independent role that blends hands-on electrical experience with technical modeling responsibilities.

Day-to-Day:

• Develop and manage virtual models of electrical systems for commercial construction projects
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure accurate designs
• Create detailed electrical layouts, schematics, and diagrams using Revit and Navisworks
• Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents
• Identify and resolve design conflicts to ensure constructability and compliance
• Ensure designs meet industry standards, codes, and regulations
• Provide technical support during installation phases and maintain accurate design documentation

Qualifications:

• At least 6 years of electrician experience in commercial environments
• Minimum Journeyman Electrician license (Master Electrician preferred)
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and commercial construction practices
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple design priorities
