Progress starts with you.Job DescriptionVisa is seeking a proactive product and commercial lawyer to join as Senior Associate Counsel supporting Visa’s Global Product, IP and Services organizations. The position will report to a Vice President, Visa Legal - Global Product, IP and Services.The role is responsible for supporting Visa Growth Products and Partnerships involving emerging technology. This role will work closely with a small team of product counsels, other experienced Visa lawyers and compliance professionals, and regularly engage directly with business clients.Applicants must be skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and challenging, but highly rewarding, environment, have good judgment and strong analytical, organizational, client counseling, and negotiation skills, be self-motivated, be an optimistic, curious, and collaborative team player, and have a good sense of humor.Visa Is Looking For Someone Who WillProvide sophisticated and creative counseling to our product and business teams developing products and initiatives in emerging technology including agentic commerce, digital wallets, and stablecoins.Draft and negotiate commercial agreements that achieve business objectivesLead review of product related marketing materials, public relations and corporate communicationsManage regulatory support and evaluation of how shifts in regulatory landscapes may impact Visa and its partnersWork closely with Visa’s regional legal and business teams globally, and assist these teams in resolving regional and local issuesWhere required, coordinate and supervise outside counsel for timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and excellence of service and work productThis is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.QualificationsBasic Qualifications:5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhDPreferred Qualifications:6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD5 or more years of post-JD work experience (or international equivalent)Valid license to practice in the state where the job is located or the ability to become state registered in-house counsel in good standing6 or more years of relevant post-JD work experience (or international equivalent)Combination of in-house and law firm experience preferredStrong academic credentials, including a J.D. degree (or international equivalent)Prior experience advising on payments services, particularly supporting global product launches and driving the legal and regulatory aspects of complex business initiativesFamiliarity with U.S. federal and state payments and privacy lawsDemonstrated ability to drive execution in a team environment, integrating legal advice and business knowledge while providing balanced advice regarding risks and benefitsMust be able to work independently and collaboratively as needed, and engage directly with business clients at all levelsMust be a practical and creative problem-solver with strong business acumen and work ethicDeveloped business acumen, with ability to understand the company's business interests and anticipate the nature and magnitude of issues that could arise in various settingsMust be able to multitask and manage a significant workload and a number of clients with minimal supervisionInformation for US ApplicantsFor roles located in the US, the estimated salary range for this position is $180,600 to $289,300 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
