Trailer Mechanic

This role focuses on the full maintenance and repair of large over-the-road trailers, including electrical, mechanical, and structural components from front to back. You will diagnose issues, perform hands-on repairs, and ensure trailers are safe, reliable, and ready for service.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive maintenance and repair on large over-the-road trailers (up to 54 feet), covering all systems from front to back.
• Wire and troubleshoot low-voltage electrical systems, including trailer lighting and related electrical components.
• Replace and repair brakes, rotors, tires, wheels, and suspension components to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Install, repair, and maintain E-trak systems, trailer skirts, floors, and lift gates.
• Use mechanical aptitude and personal tools to diagnose and resolve trailer issues in a timely and accurate manner.
• Perform general trailer repair, including structural and cosmetic fixes as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to complete work efficiently in a high-paced environment.
• Work periodic overtime when needed to meet operational and customer demands.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Document work performed as required by shop procedures and standards.

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on trailer mechanic or trailer repair experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to independently use personal tools.
• Proficiency in maintenance and repair of large over-the-road tractor trailers from front to back.
• Experience with low-voltage electrical wiring for trailer lights and electrical systems.
• Ability to perform brake, rotor, tire, wheel, suspension, floor, and lift gate repairs and replacements.
• Capability to work effectively in a high-paced environment.
• Willingness to work periodic overtime as needed.

• MIG welding experience is a significant plus.
• Experience with E-trak system installation and repair is beneficial.
• Familiarity with diesel-related trailer components is advantageous.
• Ability to perform welding and general repair work as needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in mechanical and electrical diagnostics.

Work Environment

You will work in a covered mechanic shop area designed to keep technicians comfortable, with large cooling fans, swamp coolers for the summer, and heaters for the winter. The facility includes a spacious break room where employees can escape the heat and relax, featuring a golf simulator with both right- and left-handed clubs provided. The shop provides water, sports drinks, and electrolyte beverages to help you stay hydrated throughout the day. During winter months, you receive two work breaks plus a lunch break, and during summer months you receive three work breaks plus a lunch break, with lunch periods off the clock. Uniforms are provided, including two weeks of work clothing as well as winter jackets and beanies for colder weather, helping maintain a practical and professional dress standard on the shop floor.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $62400.00/yr.
