Medical Assistant/Admit Worker - Pacific Primary Care FT Days

Medical Assistant

Incumbent performs non-licensed medical care in an assigned outpatient clinical setting. Performs clerical functions associated with the operations of a clinical office as necessary. Must be willing to travel between locations within the health system as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Understanding of medical terminology
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Medical Assistant Diploma or Certificate of Competency / Recognition in Medical Assisting
• Clinical / Back Office Flexibility to work variable shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• BLS certification upon hire
• Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds
• Must be able to travel to off site physician practices

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting
• Phlebotomy certification
• Outpatient experience
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
• Demonstrated knowledge of insurance programs and/or government programs
• Demonstrated experience working in registration, scheduling and/or authorization process
• Demonstrated experience working in a hospital or medical office setting
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese
