Introduction

To qualify for this position, candidates must be enrolled in a Nursing program and either currently taking or have completed the Nursing Fundamentals course. Please confirm with your educational institution what constitutes an equivalent course.

If you haven't yet completed this requirement but are eager to gain practical experience, consider applying for roles such as Patient Care Technician or Patient Safety Attendant, which can provide you with valuable exposure.

Become part of our exceptional Student Nurse Externship program, where you will enjoy flexibility and hands-on experience. We offer additional shadowing opportunities in units that interest you and support your preparation for a Graduate Nurse position.

For every 24 hours you work, you will earn 4 hours of paid shadowing time in any unit across our facilities. Are you nearing graduation? Consider interviewing for your Graduate Nurse role now and start early in that unit as a student nurse.

Job Summary and Qualifications

• The Nurse Extern provides high-quality, patient-centered care by performing various basic patient care tasks related to standard nursing functions and daily living activities.
• Under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN), the Nurse Extern supports the nursing team in delivering patient care according to their skills and training, while helping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe care environment.
• The Nurse Extern must be currently enrolled and in good standing at an accredited nursing school and can perform advanced procedures once competency is demonstrated.
• Flexible scheduling with opportunities to earn additional shadow time in various units.
• After orientation and clinical skills assessment, nursing students will gain hands-on experience working alongside a Registered Nurse, enhancing their nursing skills.

Qualifications Required:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing Program, having completed Nursing Fundamentals (only RN programs accepted; LPN programs are no longer eligible).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
• High School diploma or GED.
