Or enrolled in a minimum of 2 years of child development coursework approved by state licensing requirements. Experience working with children and at least two seasons working as a Y Camp Counselor or in a comparable program. Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and experience working with children. Ability to lead and motivate a team. Ability to deal effectively with inappropriate behavior and recognize hazard situations. Responsibilities we will trust you with Monitor and train staff to ensure effective implementation of programs and activities; ensure staff adherence to all policies and procedures; coach and train staff in providing a quality camping experience. Plan and oversee the implementation of a variety of camp activities; ensure activities are age appropriate and contribute to the overall growth and development of the campers. Identify, address, and redirect/correct inappropriate behavior. Ensure appropriate behavior of campers and staff to avoid the risk of accidents. Assist in maintaining effective communication with parents/guardians regarding camper and camp activities.
