About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: 2 years of experience required License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in maternal care - No first-time travelers accepted - Ability to float to NICU or L&D as required - Weekend availability to meet staffing needs Description: The role requires two years of experience in maternal and postpartum care. Candidates will be responsible for the care of postpartum patients, including those with vaginal and cesarean deliveries. Responsibilities include managing blood and blood product administration, as well as the use of epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps. Knowledge of wound vacs, heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate administration is essential. The nurse will provide post-operative care and support for normal newborn care, including thermoregulation and glucose management. The position requires experience in postpartum re-admissions and post-epidural management. Skills in discharge teaching for parents, infant identification, and newborn assessment are necessary. The nurse will assist with phototherapy, thermoregulation, and management of newborn hypoglycemia. Pain assessment and management, especially the use of opioids and PCA, should be part of the candidate’s skills. Experience with bladder assessment and Foley catheter insertion is required. Breastfeeding instruction and management of episiotomy/incision care are expectations for this role. Furthermore, candidates must be efficient in fundus, lochia, and perineum care. Ability to utilize both electric and manual breast pumps is critical for patient support. Prior experience with postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension is needed. Interdisciplinary support is available for patient diagnoses related to postpartum care. The unit provides care for patients undergoing GYN surgeries and other low-risk antepartum scenarios. Overall, the position encompasses a variety of responsibilities that are essential for effective postpartum care.
