Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The Lead HVAC Technician supports Germanna Community College's mission by ensuring campus facilities and building systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This position leads the operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of HVAC and related building systems, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs, to maintain a safe, comfortable, and productive learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs daily inspections of equipment; maintains accurate service records; works with contractors to maintain equipment.
• Building automation system to include temperature control, equipment operation, assigns start/stop commands; understands Sage Programming Language, Tridium Logic. Writes programming for equipment operation.
• Develops, coordinates and follows a schedule of preventative maintenance and maintenance projects.

• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of facility maintenance principles, materials, methods, and current industry trends, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose problems, and repair building systems and associated equipment using a variety of hand, power, and diagnostic tools.
• Knowledge of OSHA workplace safety standards and the ability to read and interpret operating manuals, technical specifications, and related documentation.
• Ability to supervise and inspect the work of others, establish priorities, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports.
• Education, technical training, and/or experience in facility maintenance, including building systems, equipment repair, and workplace safety practices.
• Proficiency in the use of personal computers, maintenance management software, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and related technology.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, department heads, vendors, and public officials.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.

Additional Considerations:

• Vocational training or coursework in HVAC installation, maintenance and repair
• Universal CFC certification
