Surgical Technologist II- Operating Room 40 hours (5X8)

Job Summary Under supervision, assists in operations. May help set up the operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Patient Care Yes. Essential Functions Participates in time‑out procedures. Attainment of extra supplies and equipment as needed. Sets up equipment independently. Participates as an active member of the Patient Care Team. Monitors and continually assesses operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs. Prepares patients for surgery, including positioning patients on the operating table and covering them with sterile surgical drapes to prevent exposure. Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room. Qualifications Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Does not accept experience in lieu of a degree. Licenses and Credentials : Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred. Experience : 2–3 years required as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting. 4 years of experience, including committee and leadership experience, preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room; ability to multitask in a fast‑paced clinical environment; advanced knowledge of sterile processing procedures and policies; familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items. Work Location and Hours Onsite at 2014 Washington Street, Newton‑Wellesley Hospital. Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Shift: rotating. Regular employee. Pay $33.25 – $38.15 per hour (Grade 4).
