ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Coordinates and delegates responsibilities of Building and Ground services, Custodial Staff and Maintenance Staff.
- Studies production schedules and estimates scheduling needs to complete job assignments.
- Interprets school policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
- Conducts safety checks in the building such as checking lights, functionality of elevators, stability of playground equipment.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Stays abreast and notifies staff of any safety standards and/or code changes ensuring that the district is compliant.
- Maintains building(s), performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities as approved by the Assistant Superintendent.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Inspects and coordinates security and fire alarm systems for conformance.
- Processes and reviews time sheets and bills for accuracy and for payment in a timely fashion.
- Cooperates with administration in developing plan for major projects and construction.
- Inspects or participates with administering any general facility maintenance work.
- Maintains building(s), performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities as approved by the Principal/Assistant Superintendent
- Keeps an inventory of supplies and equipment and orders needed replacements far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such times as will not hinder staffs duties.
- Reports and properly documents any damage or misuse of school property to the Principal and Assistant Superintendent.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate working relationships by actively communicating with the Transportation Director and assists in vehicular repairs.
- Assists in emergency situations and on call for emergencies 24 hours/day.
- Respond to alarm calls on building.
- Write 30 & 60 day evaluations on new employees.
- Annual evaluations on all employees within the Building & Grounds Department
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Contributes to the decisions made by the District and building regarding budget, facilities, equipment, and personnel well-being.
- Attends workshops and observes other programs in the state to constantly improve District services.
- Performs additional tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
- Classified Exempt Evaluation
- Supervises Lead Custodian, Custodial Staff, and Maintenance Staff.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); a minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality; communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, non-weather and works near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (weather and non-weather); extreme heat (weather and non-weather) and risk of electrical shock.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- This individual may be exposed to potentially hazardous bodily fluids.
