(Saint Johnsbury, Vermont) The St. Johnsbury School is seeking to hire a Mental Health Clinician to join a multidisciplinary team that includes a school psychologist, three school counselors, three nurses, and district clinicians. This preschool through grade 8 public school is located 2 minutes from Exit 21 on I‑91 and serves approximately 550 students and 250 employees. Essential Functions and Duties Provide individual therapy and develop, document, and implement treatment plans. Create and maintain electronic clinical records in accordance with VT OPR ethical standards. Conduct psychosocial evaluations and assessments. Plan behavior interventions and provide family work and consultation within the school setting. Offer consistent opportunities for collaboration with teachers and school administrators. Participate in the school crisis response team or district crisis response team with other district and/or community mental health team members. Liaise or act as an expert consultant between the school and intensive interventions/residential services, home and community–based, mobile crisis, and crisis beds; facilitate communication, linkage, and continuity of care among students, families, physicians, and community resources. Support school and district promotion of mental health supports and prevention. Train other clinicians, school counselors, school nurses, teachers, and educational support staff. Participate in professional development as requested. Demonstrate understanding of diagnosis, assessment, and treatment. Apply multicultural studies, career development/lifestyle appraisal, research, and evaluation. Attend school‑based staff meetings for school‑safety trainings, district trainings, or crisis response. Attend meetings or provide input on clients on caseloads for IEP, 504, or EST. Provide clinical skill and experience to assess, plan, coordinate, and deliver treatment and support to students with mild, moderate, and persistent mental‑health needs, disorders, illnesses, or disabilities. Provide crisis intervention assessments and recommendations to school leaders, school teams, and families. Establish linkages and coordinate services with community agencies. Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with community service providers. Inform clients and families of the availability of community advocacy and support groups. Participate in group supervision throughout the school year. Participate in clinical team case consultation and crisis response protocols. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have completed a graduate degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health, or Clinical Psychology. An internship in clinical mental health work must be completed or be in process of completion prior to hire. License eligible upon hire; licensure completed within two years of hire. Supervision hours toward licensure can be included with this position for LCMHC and Clinical Psychologist candidates. Compensation and Benefits The salary follows the Teacher's Collective Bargaining Agreement and is based on years of experience and educational level. The position is not part of the Teacher's Association. Mental health clinicians receive vested benefits in the State Municipal's Pension after five years of service. Employees work 186 days each school year and receive 15 sick days, five personal days, and five bereavement days. BCBS of Vermont provides health insurance; the employer pays the first $2,200 for single coverage or $4,400 for multi‑person coverage of out‑of‑pocket costs and 100% of prescription costs. The employer also pays for single dental coverage, employee life insurance, and employee long‑term disability insurance.
