If you believe that your experience, skills, attitude and work ethic fit, joining this dynamic team may be the next step for you.The Operating Technician is responsible for providing 24-hour mill maintenance to mill operations including BOFs, Blast Furnaces, Electric Furnaces, and other mill areas, and for the safe operation of multiple types of refractory tearout equipment such as LAG, Gradall, and KT Grant machines.ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment at customer sitesPerform routine inspections and services on equipmentResponsible for the safe operation of refractory Tearout equipment including, but not limited to, LAG, Gradall, and KT Grant machinesComplete pre-shift inspections before operating equipment and grease equipment at the start of each shiftComplete required work orders accurately using company maintenance management softwareMaintain a high level of customer satisfaction by understanding and addressing customer needs and time constraintsRespond to service calls in a timely and efficient mannerFollow all safety policies and procedures and use required PPE properlyBe on time for scheduled shifts and punch in and out on the BULK clock-in platformMaintain a clean and safe work and break room environmentAbide by all BULK safety and operational procedures, as well as any mill-mandated safety procedures and requirementsDuring downtime, assist with any minor maintenance requirements and housekeepingCreate parts lists when needed and communicate with site management and/or purchasing departmentMaintain certifications required for specific or specialized work, and licenses required to operate service vehiclesKeep company assets such as vehicles, laptops, diagnostic & specialty tooling in working orderPerform other related duties as assignedRequirements:1-3 years' experience of operating Heavy Equipment (straight boom excavators and refractory demolition experience preferred)1-3 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment and strong working knowledge of hydraulics, powertrain, electronic/electrical systems, diesel, etc. preferredIntermediate computer skillsExperience with diagnostic softwareValid driver's license with satisfactory driving recordHas experience running tearout machines including LG and GradallFamiliarity with furnace operations and safety hazardsAbility to troubleshoot machine faults and adapt quicklyAbility to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as requiredSelf-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal supervisionGood decision-making, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and creative thinking skillsPhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, prolonged standing, walking, and manual dexterity are required.
