Field Engineer Assistant (Part Time)

We are seeking a Field Engineer Assistant to join our team in a part-time, entry-level capacity. This role is ideal for a current civil engineering student who is eager to gain hands-on experience in heavy civil construction and project operations. You’ll work alongside experienced project teams, gaining exposure to field operations, compliance, documentation, and project coordination while developing a strong foundation in construction practices. What You’ll Do As a Field Engineer Assistant, you will support both field and office operations and gain valuable, real-world experience. Responsibilities include: Assist project teams with general field and administrative support tasks Support daily reporting, data entry, and project documentation Observe and learn construction methods and jobsite activities Help track quantities, deliveries, and project progress Maintain organized project records and compliance documentation Assist with safety documentation and observe jobsite safety practices Coordinate with Project Engineers, Foremen, and other team members Support project scheduling updates and coordination tasks Participate in meetings and field walk-throughs Take on additional duties to support the project team as needed Qualifications Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field Basic understanding of construction or engineering principles Ability to read and interpret plans/drawings with guidance Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn Ability to follow direction and work both independently and as part of a team Preferred (but not required): Prior construction or field experience Mix of field and office work , depending on project needs Requires flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in active construction environments Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift, climb, kneel, crouch, and perform moderate physical activity Ability to communicate effectively and maintain situational awareness on job sites Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans. #J-18808-Ljbffr Sunbeltasphalt
