Warehouse WorkerA Metals4u warehouse worker is the focal point of our service commitment to our customers. It is one of the things that make us different from our competitors. Our warehouse workers must present a professional personal image as well as a positive mental attitude for our customers.A warehouse worker for Metals4u, Inc. assists our customers by pulling stock, cutting stock to the customers' specifications, and either loading it on the customer vehicle or delivering the order with a Metals4u, Inc. delivery vehicle.A warehouse worker also unloads delivery trucks, stocks the product in our warehouse bins, and prepares UPS orders for outside shipment.The Warehouse worker is hired by and reports to the Manager. A warehouse worker is authorized to receive cash or checks from customers when delivering a merchandise order after providing the customer with the proper receipt. The Warehouse worker has the authority to sign for the receipt of inventory delivered to our warehouse. When doing this, they are also responsible for ensuring that the packing list is matched correctly with the material received. They are also specifically authorized to purchase gasoline for our delivery vehicles, using the corporate gas card.A Warehouse worker does not supervise another position at Metals4u, Inc.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Comply with all pertinent governmental laws, rules, and regulations in the performance of duties.Perform all duties in a manner that supports the defined mission of Metals4u, Inc.Communicate any unusual needs regarding training, safety, scheduling inventory, supplies, and equipment are communicated to the Manager in a detailed and timely manner to facilitate the appropriate action.Cooperate in maintaining an open and honest line of communication throughout.Present a quality, professional image to the public and to the customersDuties include:Assist in opening the warehouse each workday so that we are ready for business at 7:30 am.Assist in closing the warehouse each workday at 5:30pm.Greet customers in a friendly manner and serve them in a way that supports Metals4u, Inc. missionUnload delivery trucks, compare items received with the packing list, sign for those items received, and stock them in the proper binCut enough pre-cut stock to maintain the level required by the Lead Man to fulfill current sales projections.Cut and load inventory for customers onto their vehicle asPackage inventory for delivery as requested.Cut and load customer orders onto our delivery Inspect the load and the truck prior to leaving the warehouse.Plan the most efficient route to minimize driveMake deliveries in the most efficient manner possible while not jeopardizingKeep the warehouse and the individual work areas neat, clean, andObserve all safety rules and wear proper safetyClean all paper and shipping straps from inside and outside the warehouse.Clean and perform preventative maintenance on shears, saws, and other equipment.Stay alert to the needs of other warehouse workers and help whenLearn to use equipment and machines rightSort invoices into the proper sorting trays,Help maintain the building and grounds to give a neat Pick up and discard paper, bands, wire ties, wood scraps, boxes, etc.Sign receiving documents and confirm that we received what is on the receivingKeep all stocked materialsPut cut-off materials in the proper place.Comply with all corporate operating policies and procedures and employeeCheck trucks to ensure that inspections and licenses are up to date.Review this job description at least once per year and make recommendations for improvement to theOther duties as assigned by theMeasures of performance include:Has responded to pick tickets in a timely and friendly manner and no customer has been delayed in service.Has assisted in opening the office for business so that we are ready for business at designated openingHas greeted customers in a friendly manner and served them quickly and professionally.Delivery trucks have been unloaded properly, items received have been compared with the packing list, and inventory has been stocked in the proper binPre-cut stock has been maintained at the proper level required by the Lead warehouse to fulfill current sales projections and no customer has had to wait for such an item.Customer orders have been cut when required, to the proper length, and the inventory has been loaded quickly and safely onto their vehicle.Has worked in a team-like manner and cooperated with fellow warehouse workers and supervisoryWhen required, inventory has been properly packaged for UPS delivery.The warehouse and individual work areas are neat, clean, andInventory is labeled correctly and stored in the correctThis job description has been reviewed at least once in the past 12 months and meaningful suggestions for improvement have been made to the LeadHas achieved the overall satisfaction of the Lead warehouse.Qualification requirements include:High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, diameter, square footage and square inches. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to convert inch to foot conversions, decimal and fractional.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram.
