Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week | Non-Exempt Reports to: Executive Director

The Oaks at Garden Ridge is seeking a creative, dependable, and compassionate Lifestyles Director to lead meaningful programming for our assisted living and memory care residents.

This is more than planning activities. Our Lifestyles Director creates opportunities for residents to laugh, sing, connect, reminisce, move, learn, and continue enjoying the things that bring purpose to their lives. Through a warm, personalized approach, this individual helps create a community atmosphere that is welcoming, stimulating, nurturing, and engaging for residents, families, team members, and visitors.

The right person will understand that successful programming begins with knowing each resident as an individual. We are looking for someone who brings energy and creativity to the role while also being organized, dependable, and committed to consistently following through.

Essential Responsibilities

Develop and lead daily group and individual activities incorporating music, laughter, movement, social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and personal interests.

Implement programs in accordance with Imagine Senior Living’s Six Elements of Engagement.

Build meaningful relationships with residents and engage them in activities and conversations based on their individual preferences, abilities, histories, and interests.

Create and maintain an engaging monthly activity calendar.

Develop the community’s monthly newsletter.

Complete an Activities Assessment for each new resident.

Maintain accurate and timely quarterly activity documentation for all residents.

Participate in resident care conferences and contribute meaningful information about resident engagement, preferences, and participation.

Coordinate the community’s Volunteer and Resident Ambassador Programs.

Plan and organize seasonal celebrations, family gatherings, special events, outings, and annual community events.

Manage the monthly lifestyles budget responsibly.

Safely operate the community bus and coordinate resident outings.

Participate in the Manager-on-Duty rotation as assigned by the Executive Director.

Collaborate with community leadership and care team members to support residents’ overall well-being.

Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Previous experience working with older adults is strongly preferred.

A minimum of six months of experience working with individuals living with dementia is preferred.

State-qualified Activities Director credentials are preferred if required by applicable state regulations.

A genuine passion for creating meaningful experiences for older adults.

Strong creativity, organization, time management, and follow-through.

Dependable attendance and the ability to maintain a consistent programming schedule.

Ability to communicate warmly and professionally with residents, families, team members, volunteers, and community partners.

Ability to lead activities and speak effectively in front of groups.

Strong written communication and documentation skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Ability to read and follow safety rules, operating procedures, policies, and employee manuals.

Ability to solve practical problems, adapt when plans change, and respond calmly to residents’ needs.

Valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable for coverage under the company’s automobile insurance policy.

Ability to complete all required bus-driving certifications and driving demonstrations.

Ability to travel locally, with occasional out-of-town travel when necessary.

Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call hours based on resident and community needs.
