Job Title: Behavioral Healthcare Provider 1 Profession: Behavioral Healthcare Provider Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 52 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Licensed Registered Nurse by the Ohio Board of Nursing Certifications: Completion of a master's degree in psychology or other mental health-related field or Completion of a master's degree in nursing with a Mental Health or Psychiatric Nursing concentrate Must-Have: Training and development required to remain in the classification after employment Completion of continuing professional education for license renewal pursuant to relevant sections of the Ohio Revised Code Description: The Behavioral Healthcare Provider develops, coordinates, implements, and provides interdisciplinary services related to behavioral and biomedical science. The provider applies knowledge and techniques relevant to health and illness to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. Within the scope of practice, the provider performs psychosocial interventions with clients. Individual, family, or group intervention may include counseling, testing, and education of the client. The provider develops intervention goals and objectives designed to educate and resolve the client's functional problems. Participation in the process of establishing, implementing, and evaluating treatment system goals and objectives is required. The provider interviews clients and their families to establish case goals and objectives. Clients are assessed to determine specific intervention techniques and to monitor responses to treatment. Feedback on the effectiveness of prescribed treatment is provided. The provider evaluates the progress of lower-level behavioral healthcare provider cases resulting from prescribed treatment plans. Maintaining necessary data documents to satisfy requirements of federal, state, and local agencies is essential. The provider prepares data that require social histories, admission/aftercare summaries, court documents, and other forms required by law and/or policy. Serving on treatment teams and program development teams is a part of the role. Attendance at training meetings, intradepartmental meetings, and court hearings is required. The provider establishes and maintains working relationships with other facilities, agencies, and support services to coordinate referrals and conduct follow-up services. Knowledge of departmental regulations, policies, and procedures is necessary. The ability to counsel on sensitive matters and recognize errors is essential. The provider must be able to recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate actions. Understanding abstract fields of study and problem-solving in complex situations is required. Application of social work theories, principles, and techniques is necessary. Unusual working conditions may include unusual work schedules or arrangements. Exposure to clients who may be potentially violent and unusual noise, odors, or contagious diseases may occur. Travel to community sites under contract with the Department of Mental Health may be required.
