Travel Surgical Tech/ORT - Certified Surgical Technologist/CST

American Traveler

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a Level IV Trauma Center OR position requiring scrub experience in GYN, ortho, and general surgery cases.

Requirements

BLS certification required
Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program required
CST certification preferred
License required if applicable
Minimum 2-3 years of OR experience required; first-time travelers considered with 3+ years of OR experience
EPIC EMR experience required
Scrub experience required in GYN, ortho, and general surgery cases
DaVinci XI robotic experience required

Responsibilities

13-week contract in a hospital Surgery Room with 14 ORs
Level IV Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center, and GYN Teaching Facility
228-bed facility handling 20-23 cases per day
Top case types include ortho (35%), GYN, and general surgery, plus bariatrics, plastics, and urology cases
No neuro, complicated spine, or baby delivery cases
10-hour day shifts, Monday-Friday 0630-1500, based on surgical schedule
On-call rotation required for weekends (0630-0630) and weeknights based on unit needs, averaging 7-8 days every 2 months
1 holiday coverage expected per contract
Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and iStat (Hemochron)
Support surgical cases including general, bariatric, ortho, plastics, urology, and GYN procedures
Work alongside Charge RN, Leads, OR Educator, surgeons, and anesthesia team
3-5 days of orientation including unit orientation with a preceptor
Scrubs are provided
Free parking available
Strong team-oriented culture with close relationships between staff and physicians
RTO approval available for up to 7 days
Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius rules
Former Advocate Health employees must be separated at least 12 months to be eligible for travel assignments
