Job Title: Staff Nurse Emergency Department Profession: Staff Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2+ years in Emergency Department License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: - Collaboration - Communication (verbal & written) - Judgment/Critical Thinking - Organizational Understanding - Planning (Organizing, Time Management) - Problem Solving - Quality - Reliability - Safety and Risk Management Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response. The RN advocates for the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. The RN must adhere to nursing policies and standards of practice, the Code of Ethics for Nurses, and uphold the rights of patients. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients. The RN serves as a primary or accountable nurse when designated. The RN educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management. The RN utilizes knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications. The RN shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization. The RN must comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and nursing policies. The RN actively participates in improvement initiatives and supports peer review practices. The RN engages in professional development and completes all mandatory education requirements. The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. The RN provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. The RN may perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned. The RN may assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
