Animal Control Officer

Job Opportunities The Town of Stoughton is seeking applications to fill this full time (40hrs/wk), benefitted, union position. Duties: This is a hands‑on position, involving skilled animal control, law enforcement, and investigative work enforcing the statutes and Town Bylaws relating to the control and care of animals. The Animal Control Officer also supervises the operation of the Town’s Animal Control Facility, ensuring safe conditions and proper care of all animals as well as providing emergency care to injured animals and transporting them to proper facilities. Qualifications: Associate Degree and one year of experience handling and caring for animals; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s Degree or undergraduate certification in animal sciences, veterinary sciences or law enforcement with three (3) years of experience handling and caring for animals preferred. Additional Requirements : Valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license; and ability to obtain a License to Carry. All applicants must be able to pass a criminal background and/or CORI check and a pre-employment physical including drug testing. Starting Salary range : $65,000-$72,000 (DOQ) with benefits.
