Role Description The General Manager will oversee the daily operations, business performance, team management, and strategic growth of Cortez Event Agency. This is a full-time, on-site leadership position based in Miami, Florida. The ideal candidate combines strong business management skills with hands-on experience in wedding and event planning, event design, production, and execution. We are looking for a proactive leader with exceptional organizational abilities, financial awareness, commercial vision, and a commitment to delivering outstanding client experiences. Key Responsibilities 1. Operations & Event Management * Oversee daily company operations, ensuring efficiency, organization, and accountability across departments. * Supervise the planning, design, production, installation, and execution of weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations. * Ensure all events meet company quality standards, timelines, budgets, and client expectations. * Coordinate internal teams, external vendors, production crews, and logistical operations. * Identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions. * Develop and improve operational procedures, workflows, and internal systems. 2. Leadership & Team Management * Lead, supervise, and evaluate planning, design, production, sales, and administrative teams. * Establish clear responsibilities, performance expectations, and accountability standards. * Manage staff scheduling, productivity, training, and professional development. * Foster a positive, collaborative, and results-oriented work environment. * Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management. 3. Sales & Business Development * Lead and supervise the sales process, from initial inquiries through proposal development, negotiation, and contract closing. * Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to increase revenue. * Build and maintain relationships with luxury clients, venues, event planners, corporate partners, and vendors. * Monitor sales performance, conversion rates, and revenue goals. * Collaborate with marketing to strengthen brand positioning and generate qualified leads. * Support the development of long-term commercial partnerships. 4. Financial Management & Profitability * Oversee company budgets, operating expenses, project costs, and financial performance. * Monitor event profitability and ensure effective cost control. * Review and approve proposals, vendor agreements, and operational expenditures within established authorization limits. * Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators (KPIs). * Implement strategies to improve efficiency, profitability, and sustainable growth. 5. Event Design & Production Oversight * Demonstrate a strong understanding of event design, décor, floral production, installations, and event logistics. * Supervise the execution of creative concepts, ensuring alignment between approved designs and final installations. * Coordinate with creative teams, production managers, and vendors to maintain design integrity and quality standards. * Understand technical production requirements, including rentals, staging, lighting, tenting, and event installations. * Ensure smooth transitions between planning, production, setup, event execution, and breakdown. 6. Client Experience & Quality Control * Maintain exceptional service standards throughout the client journey. * Oversee communication with clients and ensure timely responses, professionalism, and attention to detail. * Manage escalated client concerns and resolve operational challenges. * Represent Cortez Event Agency professionally in meetings, negotiations, and industry relationships. * Ensure consistent delivery of premium, personalized experiences. Qualifications & Requirements * Minimum 5 years of management or leadership experience, preferably within the wedding, luxury events, hospitality, or event production industry. * Proven experience managing teams, budgets, operations, and complex projects. * Strong knowledge of wedding and event planning, event design, logistics, and production. * Demonstrated sales, negotiation, and business development capabilities. * Strong financial understanding, including budgeting, profitability analysis, and cost control. * Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. * Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management abilities. * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, CRM platforms, and event management software. * Fluency in English and Spanish is required, both written and spoken. * Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Event Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered. * Must be based in Miami or willing to relocate. * Availability to work evenings and weekends when required by event schedules.
