Medical Underwriting Assistant

Under supervision, the full-time Medical Underwriting Assistant will review specific case diagnoses referred by the Underwriting staff for high-risk diagnosis coding and ensure appropriate cases are forwarded to the Medical Underwriting Nurse, all while working remotely. Key Responsibilities Receive, log, and track all specific case diagnoses referred by Underwriting staff and ensure timely reviews Review submitted cases for high-risk diagnoses and select those for assessment by the Medical Underwriting Nurse Maintain appropriate documentation and facilitate communication between Underwriting and Nursing staff Required Qualifications 5 years of relevant and progressive experience in the area of specialization Basic knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures related to medical underwriting Strong medical knowledge including ICD, CPT, medical terminology, COBRA, and HIPAA Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word) Advanced organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
