Job Details Job Location: PMC - National Capital Area Command - Washington, DC 20020 Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More Education Level: High School Diploma/GED Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly Job Category: Social Services Schedule/Hours: Part-time; Hours Varied. Mon-Wed & Fri-Sun 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM Position Overview This position is responsible for operating the Salvation Army Grate Patrol program vehicle to transport meals, serve meals, transport volunteers, and occasionally distribute supplies to individuals who are homeless and living on the streets of Washington, DC. The position is part-time only, and the hours are from 5:00 PM-9:00 PM, typically working 7 days on and 7 days off shifts. Key Responsibilities Provides evening transportation and serving of meals and/or transportation of volunteers to 5-6 stops in the downtown DC area to provide meals to individuals who are homeless. Support efforts of Grate Patrol Social Services Manager to identify individuals in need of immediate assistance and/or in immediate crisis. Provide guidance to volunteers on how to serve food in safe and sanitary manner. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language. Ability to drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and extended trips. Work requires driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance trips or heavy traffic. What Are We Looking For In You High School or G.E.D. Two years’ experience operating an automotive vehicle, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
