Job Duties and Responsibilities

Scaling manufacturing operations requires relentless focus on operational excellence (OPEX); eliminating waste, reducing downtime, standardizing work, and driving continuous improvement across production lines. This role sits at the intersection of process engineering, controls, and Lean manufacturing, partnering with operations and maintenance teams to optimize how work flows, how equipment performs, and how costs are controlled. You'll bring strong industrial/process engineering fundamentals and a continuous-improvement mindset; we'll invest in developing your controls and automation depth (including PLC programming) over time.

 

What Success Looks Like (Objectives)

• Analyze, standardize, and optimize manual and automated manufacturing processes to improve cycle times, quality, and throughput while reducing downtime and cost
  
• Drive OPEX initiatives using Lean manufacturing tools — value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, root-cause analysis, and waste elimination — to deliver measurable operational improvements
• Develop and maintain standardized process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Sequences of Events (SOEs), and partner with maintenance technicians to establish planned/preventive maintenance procedures
• Support and improve PLC, HMI, and SCADA control systems, sensors, and instrumentation across key business lines (formal PLC programming training provided)
• Contribute to 3D CAD designs, control panel layouts, test fixtures, and electrical schematics for manufacturing equipment
• Leverage AI tools and predictive analytics to optimize equipment diagnostics, improve process reliability, and streamline design iterations
• Lead intermediate-to-complex engineering and continuous-improvement projects from concept through deployment while ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards

• Solid foundation in industrial, manufacturing, or process engineering, with hands-on experience in process optimization and operational excellence
  
• Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies (value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, standard work, root-cause analysis)
• Familiarity with automated manufacturing environments and an aptitude for learning controls technology — PLC, HMI, SCADA, sensors, and motor controls (direct PLC programming experience is a plus, not required; we will train)
• Proficiency (or a willingness to develop proficiency) in 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD or SOLIDWORKS for equipment, fixture, and schematic design
• Strong technical writing, cross-functional collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under minimal direction
• Practical AI application skills to enhance data analysis, reporting, and predictive maintenance modeling

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering
  
• Minimum Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing, process engineering, or automated production environment

 

Required Technical Skills:

• Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies (value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, standard work, root-cause analysis). Green or black belt certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with automated manufacturing environments, mechanical assemblies, wiring diagrams, and software control systems.
• Aptitude for maintaining and upgrading controls technology (PLC, HMI, SCADA, sensors, robots, vision systems, and motor controls). Formal PLC programming experience is a plus, but not required; we will train.

Physical Demands:

• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and work directly alongside manufacturing equipment for long periods
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs and perform hands-on work with tools, control cabinets, and machinery
  
• Specific vision abilities required to inspect intricate components, interpret technical drawings, and perform detailed wiring or mechanical adjustments

 

Work Environment:

• Split between an office setting and a dynamic manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, automated systems, and moderate noise levels
• May require working in non-temperature-controlled areas within plant environments

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
