The Security Officer is responsible for helping ensure the safety and security of patients, employees, visitors, and PSMC property. This position patrols the hospital and campus, monitors surveillance and alarm systems, controls facility access, enforces safety and security policies, and responds to emergencies and disturbances.This is a highly visible position requiring sound judgment, professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain calm during stressful or potentially dangerous situations. continuing to build your security experienceKey ResponsibilitiesSecurity & Campus PatrolRegularly patrol the hospital campus and adjacent PSMC buildings to identify and address potential security risksMonitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and other security systems for suspicious or unusual activityControl access to the facility and help ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areasVerify identification and manage visitors as appropriateProtect hospital property, equipment, supplies, and confidential informationHelp prevent theft, vandalism, unauthorized access, and other criminal activityIdentify and promptly report safety risks and hazardsEmergency Response & De-EscalationRespond promptly to alarms, disturbances, emergencies, and other security concernsAssist with evacuation during fires and other threatsProvide basic first aid or medical assistance as neededDe-escalate conflicts and disturbances using effective verbal intervention techniquesRemain calm and exercise sound judgment when interacting with verbally or physically aggressive individualsAssist clinical staff with clinical restraints, including physical holds, when necessaryRecognize potentially Enforcement, or a related field preferred but not requiredExperienceMinimum of two (2) years of experience in hospital security, law enforcement, or another security position requiredLicensure & CertificationsCurrent AHA BLS HeartSaver certification requiredCertified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification preferred but not requiredSkillsStrong situational awareness and observational The Security Officer may encounter moderate to high noise levels, inclement weather, roadway hazards, communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and potentially verbally or physically aggressive individuals.The position requires regular walking and standing as well as climbing stairs, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical activities associated with security and emergency response.
