Field Service Engineer

Description


The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, modification, maintenance, and repair of complex nuclear measurement and radiation detection equipment at customer sites. This hands-on, customer-facing position supports both hardware and software systems and works closely with Technical Support and Engineering to diagnose equipment problems and resolve system faults.

The Field Service Engineer will install and configure nuclear measurement systems, perform testing to verify proper operation, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, provide technical support by phone and email, and familiarize customers with system hardware, software, and basic operation. The position requires a strong nuclear technical background, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to independently support customers throughout a high-travel territory.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Nuclear experience
• 1-3 years of experience in a technical or customer-service position
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing complex technical equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot and isolate equipment malfunctions
• Ability to diagnose both hardware and software issues
• Ability to take appropriate corrective action when system faults are identified
• Ability to perform onsite equipment installation, setup, and configuration
• Ability to follow established equipment testing procedures
• Knowledge of nuclear physics and radiation principles
• Strong technical customer-service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers regarding technical issues
• Ability to provide technical support by phone and email
• Ability to work effectively with Technical Support and Engineering teams
• Ability to provide customers with basic equipment and software operational training
• Ability to accurately complete field-service reports and service logs
• Strong written documentation skills
• Ability to professionally represent the organization at customer sites
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% weekly
