Shift Type: Day shifts, 12-hour shifts with self-scheduling options (start times may vary between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM), every other weekend and every other holiday required

Hours per Week: 48

Candidate Pay Rate: $60.90 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert emergency nursing care to patients presenting with trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF and cardiac conditions
• Interpret ECG rhythms confidently since RNs read strips on this unit
• Triage patients in a dedicated triage area and step in occasionally to support flow
• Manage your own patient holds and follow them through their ED stay
• Collaborate with ED physicians, mid-levels, charge nurses and patient sitters to keep care moving
• Float to units where you are qualified to lend a hand
• Document accurately in Paragon EMR and complete unit-specific orientation

Qualifications

• Active RN license with the ability to submit your license right away
• At least 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• TNCC certification required
• PALS or ENPC certification required
• Candidates may not have been full time, part time or PRN with any CommonSpirit affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• BSN is not required, so your experience is what matters most here

Education

• Common diagnoses/Types of patients Traums, Stroke, Spesis, CHF, Cardiac
• Experience or 'Must have' skills 2 years experience in ED
• ED Physicians/Mid-Levels Both
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Both
• Nurse Aids/Paramedics/Patient sitters Each
• EMR Paragon
• RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bi Pap, High Flow, etc.) Does RT do ABG's, breathing tx, EGS's? Resp completes
• Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? No MT, RN must know ECG rythms
• X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport? Next to ED
• Phlebotomy or nurse draw Tech or RN draws
• Shifts & Scheduling Self scheduling DAYs, Nights, 9-9, 11-11, 1-1, 3-3
• Weekend Requirement Every other

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Department nursing with strong trauma care instincts
• ECG rhythm interpretation since there are no monitor techs on this unit
• Triage skills, with occasional traveler triage support needed
• Comfort caring for a fast-paced patient load of 80 to 90 patients per day
• Working knowledge of Paragon EMR
• Team-first mindset with physicians, mid-levels, charge nurses, paramedics and patient sitters all on the floor
• Navy scrubs dress code
