Facilities Manager

The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, located in Ridgefield, CT, is seeking a Facilities Manager to ensure the facilities and grounds of the organization are safe, beautiful, and running smoothly.Founded by collector Larry Aldrich in 1964, today the Museum is a platform for artists at pivotal moments in their careers.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Facilities

• Perform facility cleaning and custodial tasks for both the Museum and Administrative Building.
• Hire vendors for as-needed maintenance: electrical, plumbing, roofs, gutters, exterior lighting, painting, etc.
• Perform basic building maintenance and procure maintenance materials.
• Manage facility improvement and construction projects from planning through completion.

Grounds

• Manage regularly scheduled maintenance with contracted outdoor maintenance of grounds; contractors are used for most landscaping and snow removal needs.
• Address issues on the grounds as needed.
• Keep the property safe during all seasons, including snow and ice removal.

Safety & General

• Maintain the Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan and coordinate inspections with the Fire Marshall, and sprinkler and emergency lighting vendors.
• Maintain and monitor the Museum’s security camera system.
• Support significant institutional events and programs in coordination with the Museum’s Development and Curatorial departments (e.g. set up and break down of furniture).

Financial Management

• Monitor the Facilities budget and spending.
• Prepare annual budget for both facility operations and capital improvements.

Candidates must have:

• A minimum of 5 years of facility management experience
• Experience with building systems, including HVAC and security
• Strong troubleshooting, organization, and project management skills
• Competency with Google Workspace and apps (Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Drive, etc)
• Ability to safely lift 50 pounds and work on ladders or scaffolding
• A positive, dependable attitude with a willingness to help wherever needed
• Flexibility to work varied hours for evening and weekend events
• To support occasional urgent operational needs, the successful candidate must maintain a primary residence within a 30-minute commute of the office

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary range: $60,000-$70,000
• Comprehensive benefits offering, including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance
• Ability to participate in 401K with employer matching after six months of employment
