Senior Tax Accountant

A great UHY client is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant . The ideal candidate will have strong federal and state income tax experience, advanced tax research skills, and the ability to prepare complex tax returns while supporting and mentoring junior staff. The Senior Tax Accountant role is an onsite position. This is a direct hire position. Prepare complex federal and state income tax returns with a high degree of accuracy. Review moderately complex tax returns and provide feedback and guidance to team members. Prepare federal and state quarterly estimated tax calculations and payments. Prepare year-end tax journal entries and supporting schedules. Conduct tax research on complex issues and provide recommendations based on current tax law. Draft tax memoranda, client correspondence, notice responses, and other professional communications. Train and mentor staff on tax return preparation and technical tax matters. Assist team members by answering questions and providing guidance on tax projects and deliverables. Participate in tax planning, forecasting, special projects, and departmental initiatives. Maintain complete and accurate workpapers and supporting documentation. Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, workflows, and efficiencies. Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and tax information. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Four or more years of tax experience. Active CPA license required. Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations. Experience preparing complex tax returns and reviewing moderately complex returns. Advanced tax research skills and the ability to interpret technical tax guidance. Ability to make independent decisions regarding tax matters and work assignments. Leadership skills with experience training or mentoring staff. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
