JobSummary The MedicalAssistant provides essential clinical support in a pediatric care environmentto assist physicians, mid-level practitioners, and the healthcare team indelivering high-quality, age-appropriate patient care. The role supports awelcoming environment for children and families, works collaboratively in ateam setting, and may involve cross-training to positions such as receptionistor other back-office roles at the request of the employer. Work in the Chelseaand Sylacauga offices as needed. Qualifications To performthis job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily. Preferred: Six (6) months’rated experience and/or training in a medical or pediatric setting. Preferred: Proficient in medicalterminology, procedures, and diagnoses. Preferred: Successful completionof a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant(CMA) program Current CPR certification. Willing to attend continuingeducation courses at the request of the employer. SpecificSkills Above-average interpersonalcommunication skills: ability to interact pleasantly and professionallywith patients (especially children), families, visitors, and staff. Strong attention to detail,accuracy, and organizational skills for vital signs, documentation, andinventory. Knowledge of medicalterminology, pediatric procedures, immunizations, and basic diagnostictesting. Proficiency in operating medicalequipment (e.g., for vital signs or other point-of-care tests) andperforming basic lab tasks. Ability to administer injectionsand handle specimens safely. Commitment to confidentiality,privacy protocols, and HIPAA compliance. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and adapt to cross-training. Dutiesand Responsibilities Greets patients and families,escorts them to examination rooms, and helps make them comfortable. Interviews patients/parents toobtain medical history, allergies, and current concerns; measures andrecords vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, O2 saturation, height,weight) accurately. Collects and documents pertinentmedical data in the patient’s chart/EMR. Performs in-house lab tests,collects specimens (e.g., capillary/venous blood, other samples), preparesspecimens for testing or send-out, and sets up lab equipment as needed. Administers immunizations andordered medications under supervision/direction. Enters vaccines into the statesystem daily; reviews and ensures accurate vaccine status for next-dayscheduled patients. Assists physicians or mid-levelpractitioners during examinations, treatments, and minor procedures Prepares, cleans, disinfects,and restocks examination rooms, equipment, and supplies between patients;takes out trash as needed, and stocks lab areas. Sterilizes instruments, disposesof contaminated supplies. Operates and maintains medicalequipment; alerts supervisor to malfunctions or supply needs. Attends scheduled departmentstaff and clinical meetings. Exercises utmostconfidentiality, privacy protocols, and adherence to clinic policies,HIPAA requirements, quality assurance, safety, environmental, andinfection control standards. Performs other duties asassigned or required. PhysicalDemands Frequent lifting and carrying ofitems weighing up to 30 lbs. unassisted, including assisting patients(e.g., children) with positioning or transfers as required. Regularly exposed to risk ofbloodborne pathogens and unpleasant elements (e.g., bodily fluids, odors). Ability to stand, walk, and moveactively for extended periods in a clinical setting. Hours Fulltime: Monday-Friday 7:55am-5:00pm. Seasonal Saturday clinic hours:8:55am-12:00pm (Chelsea clinic only). #J-18808-Ljbffr
