13F Fire Support Specialist

Job Description Join the Army National Guard as a Fire Support Specialist (Forward Observer). You will provide intelligence and target acquisition for infantry and tank units in combat operations. Training After 10 weeks of Basic Training, you will attend six weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) focusing on target calculation, ammunition handling, system operations, and artillery tactics. Responsibilities Acquire targets and relay information to artillery units. Operate communication equipment and laser range finders. Encode and decode messages and assist in preparing and distributing fire support plans. Determine target locations using computers or manual calculations. Supervise and train junior soldiers, prepare observer target lists, initiate suppressive fire, and select and monitor observation posts as you advance. Qualifications Physically and mentally fit to perform under pressure. Ability to multitask in high‑stress situations. Minimum of a junior standing in high school, or a high school diploma/GED. Age between 17 and 35. Pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards. Citizen of the United States. Benefits Paid training and a monthly paycheck.
