Purchasing ManagerThe Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all procurement activities to support manufacturing operations, ensuring materials, components, and services are obtained at the best value while meeting quality, delivery, and compliance requirements. This role develops supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, manages inventory strategies, and works cross-functionally with engineering, production, and finance to support operational goals.Essential Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with production schedules, inventory targets, and cost objectivesSource, evaluate, and manage suppliers for raw materials, fabricated components, and servicesNegotiate pricing, terms, contracts, and long-term supply agreements to achieve cost savings and reliabilityIssue and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policiesMonitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness; address corrective actions as neededCollaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on new product introductions, material changes, and supplier selectionMaintain appropriate inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess and obsolete stockTrack market conditions, material availability, and pricing trends to support forecasting and risk mitigationEnsure procurement activities meet internal controls, audit requirements, and ethical sourcing standardsLead, mentor, and evaluate purchasing or procurement staff (if applicable)Generate and analyze purchasing metrics, cost reports, and supplier data to support leadership decision-makingPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance or a related fieldMinimum 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong negotiation skills with proven experience managing suppliers and contractsWorking knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management principlesAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materialsExcellent analytical, organizational, and communication skillsExperience in manufacturing or engineered-to-order environmentsKnowledge of metal, fabrication, or industrial equipment procurementSupervisory or team leadership experienceKey Competencies:Strategic sourcingCost control and negotiationSupplier relationship managementCross-functional collaborationData-driven decision-makingContinuous improvement mindsetPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day.The ability to work on a computer for up to 8 hours a day.Ability to handle stress and fast paced environment.
