About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Media Relations and Spokesperson to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing both proactive and reactive media relations strategies, serving as the primary spokesperson, and ensuring the institution's reputation is maintained and promoted. This role involves addressing the media on a range of complex and sensitive issues, including crisis communications, and requires the ability to respond to urgent communication needs in a timely manner. The Executive Director will also lead issues management, track local and national news trends, and provide strategic counsel to leadership and key stakeholders. Key responsibilities for the Executive Director include serving as the lead spokesperson, providing high-level strategic counsel, and leading the University's emergency communications strategy. The role demands a deep understanding of media relations, the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with local and national media outlets, and oversight of the development of critical communication materials. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal teams to ensure consistent, high-quality communications and will be adept at managing operational functions related to media engagement. A proactive approach to reputation and issues management, as well as the ability to work with diverse stakeholders, is essential for this position.
