Assistant Store Manager - Chico's

Position Overview Assistant Store Manager: Supports the Store Manager in driving a customer and product-focused sales culture, managing sales operations, asset protection, and human resources to ensure great customer experience and profitability. Functional Responsibilities Performance Culture Analyze sales reports and KPIs to determine business needs; execute in-store business and sales strategies in partnership with the Store Manager. Establish and communicate clear expectations, holding the store team and self accountable for achieving brand performance and behavior standards. Control payroll and supply budget. Oversee basic operational activities such as scheduling, target shrink audits, physical inventory, opening and closing duties, time‑sheet review, payroll accuracy, and merchandise flow processes. Perform all financial activities in accordance with policy, including cash handling, reporting, price changes, merchandise handling, and register transactions. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and loss‑prevention policies, conduct associate training to reinforce controls. Administer operational processes including inventory receipt/dispatch, daily floor replenishment, and physical inventories. Maintain visual presentation, organization, and facility maintenance representative of the brand. Develop a high‑performance culture, motivating the sales team to meet assigned sales and productivity goals. Train and coach to ensure the selling team is fluent in all product knowledge online and in store. Assist with locate fulfillment and selling. Building High‑Performing Teams Motivate and inspire the store team, developing a shared vision while modeling core values. Promote an inclusive, collaborative approach to problem solving. Communicate with store teams and the Store Manager to lead positive change effectively. Seek personal developmental opportunities and solicit feedback to build leadership skills. Customer Experience Model, teach, and promote the Most Amazing Personal Service (MAPS) principles and standards, offering a cohesive omni‑channel experience. Model sales expectations, employing techniques and communicating product knowledge to the customer; recommend merchandise or help locate and obtain items based on customer needs. Ensure prompt resolution of customer concerns. Ensure a fast and efficient register experience, staying current on payment, coupon, return, and exchange policies, and security practices. Maintain consistent client communication using customer book, rewards program participation, and customer capture sign‑ups. Talent Assist in recruiting, hiring, and developing a high‑performing team. Support, implement, and provide follow‑up for all training programs and seminars. Assess and coach the store team on performance. Resolve human‑resources issues in partnership with the Store Manager in a timely and effective manner. Drive associate and team engagement by recognizing and rewarding employees for outstanding performance. Ensure the store team adheres to all employment practices and policies. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of retail management experience preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older. Excellent communication, verbal, and written skills. Able to learn or adapt to technology provided by the company. Proven excellent customer service skills with a statistical track record in all areas of sales and leadership. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment. Strong leadership qualities, training and team‑building skills. Knowledge of administrative aspects of store operations. Regular attendance is essential; ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements Constant walking/standing—67–100% of an 8‑hour shift.
