Laboratory - MLT

Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist

Supports and communicates laboratory initiatives and philosophies. Collects, processes, and receives specimens (including blood, urine, fecal, and body fluids) to be analyzed in all departments of the clinical laboratory. Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis across all age ranges. Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures in the laboratory in terms of personnel, equipment, cost, and establishment of reference intervals. Writes and revises technical procedures. Performs complex laboratory procedures. Recognizes deviations from expected results. Analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles. Analyzes quality control data and makes judgments concerning results. Takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision. Answers inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity and sensitivity, and specific factors that influence test results. Reviews all instrument indicators and temperature monitors for laboratory departments. Responsible for maintaining self-competency in laboratory skills.
